Breeding between Regali is mainly procreational, and mates for any period of time may be selected based on the individual tastes and preferences of that Regali. However, it isn't uncommon for two Regali to become especially fond of one another, and so they may choose to breed exclusively throughout their lives. It is also possible for two Regali to develope a relationship because their bondmates have done so, or even vice versa. The bond between a Regali and its bondmate is so strong that the presence of love in one individual may influence the other easily. However, these species-to-species relationships never take precedence over the bond bewteen Regali and bondmate.

The act of courtship is known as a Dance. This is because of the "dancing" movements courting Regali perform, as well as the musical sounds emitted from the horn and the fluttering of the feather headcrest.
